Faculty fellows
Qualifications for Fellows
- Must be a full-time employee at Wayne State University with instructional responsibilities
- Must have taught a fully online credit-bearing course in the last 12 months (or be scheduled to teach one before fall)
Incentives for Fellows include:
- Title of Online Course Quality Faculty Fellow
- Recognition on the OTL website
- Professional development in online teaching leading to certification
- Training to become a Quality Matters (QM) Certified Peer Reviewer or Master Reviewer
- Stipend of $5000 for each year of service (or equivalent course release)
- Structured participation in a creative, reflective online teaching community
- Co-credit on research
Responsibilities of Fellows in year one will include:
- Complete required training within 6 months of becoming a Faculty Fellow
- Complete Certified Peer Reviewer application process through QM within 6 months of becoming a Faculty Fellow
- Collaborate with the OTL to design and implement course review pilot program
- Complete a self-review of one of their own courses as a trial run upon receiving certification
- Liase with their home college/department to explain/advertise pilot program, recruit instructors to have courses reviewed
- Collaborate with the OTL to design and implement workshops on QM standards
- Review 5 courses
Responsibilities of Fellows in subsequent years will include:
- Continued involvement with pilot program to help train new Fellows
- Continued recruitment of faculty to have courses reviewed
- Commitment to research the impact of quality assurance standards via data collection
- Monthly meetings with OTL and other Fellows to discuss methods, experiences, etc.
- Collaborate with the OTL to deliver and improve workshops on QM standards
- Review the pilot program to identify ways to improve the process or tools
- Collaborate with OTL to implement new processes and advance the program in a sustainable manner
